Cost of OFA certification where you liveWith the economy like it is I have been price shopping to go get my female her OFA x-rays and certification. Wondering what the cost is in your area. The first Vet I checked with wanted $350, but that seemed a bit steep for me. What should I expect to pay for this service?
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveKen here, I had Odie done last year, and it was 135$. He did not have to be put under however. Some dogs will lay there as long as a human body scratches thier foot or anywhere realy. He is one of those dogs.
that included the chip. "Yea" came back good. But if he would have to be put out, it would be about 220$ Oops I should have added that they useualy just sedate them as well. Being put under was when they were doing a tatoo. But it still cost the same, 135-220 Last edited by BlueRiverKennel on Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:40 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveMy vet varies between 120-150 bucks depends on if he needs to relax the dog or not as he tries not to give the dog anything but if the dog struggles he will give only what is needed to get the job done and also if the dog is microchipped or permanently ID'd since AKC will not post the results on a pedigree if the dog is not Vet verified with a perm. ID so he suggests that also
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveI took a dog in when I first moved to town for hip and elbow xrays - didn't ask about the cost which was my mistake. Imagine my surprise and horror when they handed me the bill for $550 (Canadian!!!!)
Needless to say, I shopped around a bit for the next ones. The best price I can get here is $250 which includes the sedation. That does not include the OFA submission fees unfortunately. I am so jealous when I see what you are all paying in the U.S.! Cheers, Erin Eromit Labrador Retrievers Quesnel, BC, Canada
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveI had Belle's hips PennHip certified and it cost me $185, here in WI. They knocked her out. Because I already chipped her myself, didn't need that done.
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveThanks. I think I will shop around a little more. My vet that does all my shots and stuff is really affordable but he is not set up for doing X-rays on dogs. More of a large animal vet, but very close and convenient to my kennels.
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveI'm in SW MN. I just took my little bitch "Houston" in 2 weeks ago to my Local Vet. She was already Microchipped, as I Chip all my litters. I had her Hips & Elbows done at the same time and she was sedated. The Vet cost $175.00 total, and the OFA was $40.00 for Hips & Elbows submitted at the same time.
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveI pay 140-160 to have the X-Rays made. I raise and show American Bulldogs and X-ray prior to breeding. This does not include the OFA fee.

Re: Cost of OFA certification where you live$170, hips and elbows, no sedation, plus OFA fee. Remember, do the elbows also, especially if you are having them sedated.
Re: Cost of OFA certification where you liveJust had some hips done this week was 129 dollars and this included the OFA fee
