What chip do you use? Where do you get them? How much do they cost?

I have been doing my own tattoo's which is very cheap. I don't want to pay a vet $30-40 per chip. I would like to chip all my puppies but so far can't justify the price.

Depending on how much use you have You can get your own gun and order the chips bulk. Then they are only a few dollars. Mine are home again. I think it's 25$ including sign up, and I get it done when I get the hips done. Not sure what the renewal fee is. I don't do the pups. I let the new owner do what they want.

We chip all our puppies. Helps you stand out from other Breeders.
We purchase from Micro Chip ID http://www.microchipidsystems.com

If you buy their brand, they are $160 for 25. $6.40 a pup.
There brand are readable with a home again or avid and most all other scanners. They also will give you the registration forms for your customers. The others charge.

If you want Avid or home again they sell those also. Just more $$$ Over double.

You have to call the first time and they will issue you a password so you can see the prices and order on line after that.

I use AVID when I microchip my litters. It does cost a bit starting out to get the scanner and then the microchips, but once you get going, it is the way to go! I buy the chips online in bulk, 25 a pack. Do a search on google for it. I can't find the exact place right now that I got mine from, but this is what I have for about the same price - http://www.microchipidsystems.com/

I think it averaged out to about $8.00 a chip, then you just call in to AVID to activate them. 8-)

Hope this helps!!

Avid donated money and supports groups that are against breeder. Call Microchip ID and they will give you all the details.

Do you use the 125 or 134 chips?

We use the 125 chip. It can be read by all scanners except the Avid only scanner
