Tie Out Stakes

Postby RangeViewKennels » Sun Feb 14, 2010 9:13 am

Does anyone know of a good quality tie out stake? I have bought several and they keep having the same problem. The rings bust off where they are welded.

I will try to get a pic posted. But, my friend built some sturdy ones out of some round concrete form stakes. They then weld two pieces of steel pipe and leave one in the middle for the pivot with a chain link welded to it for clipping the dogs on. Very sturdy and last forever. All made from stuff many will have laying around the kennels or farm.

That’s what I have, but the link that is welded on is what keeps breaking off. The ones from the factory broke off and I have had several welded on since and those have eventually broke off at the welds also.
Not sure if it is from beating them into the ground or dogs pulling on them or both. Had them welded back together by professional welders and still the same. Last about 1 season.

I attach a welded ring to the chain, then drive a small car axle through the ring . Never had anything break.Buy the axle in a salvage yard about 5 bucks
