Work Proven Chesapeakes At Stud to Approved Females - Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in Ashley, North Dakota - Wyndham and Wyndhamian RetrieversThe Wyndham Chesapeakes are a very focused kennel of working Chesapeakes. Founded in 1953 by the then 10 year old Ed Atkins. The aim remains today 57 years later to provide sound durable and easy to train animals for Mr. Atkins shooting hobby. During the past 57 years, individual members of this kennel's shooting teams have averaged better than 12 shooting seasons of work. The season here begins each year with the early goose season (currently in August-September), doves, partridge, sharptailed grouse, sandhill cranes and regular waterfowl. The pheasant season runs from mid October through early January. Shooting resumes for a couple of weeks in March-April, when the snow geese migrate through on the way back north. Hunting areas include the Missouri river basin, the prairie potholes and open field hunting for waterfowl. Most upland hunting is done on the wide open great plains, farm fields and treelines. The long season with extreme weather conditions require physically tough, athletic retrievers with strong desire to find and retrieve game. Working alone or as part of a dog team all of our dogs must be rock steady, focused and accept strangers and their dogs working in the same vecinity. These durable hard working dogs have demonstrated through long seasons and years of experience that they are the right sort for hunters that want the best possible dog work and are offered at limited stud to approved working females. WYNDHAMS RAGING RIVER is a rugged medium size dog with a very focused personality. "Ranger" is the heavy lifter sort and loves to break ice and charge through any cover. Very personable and calm at home he is also a joy to live with. Progeny and grandprogeny from this 10th season dog are wonderful workers owned by long time Chesapeake devotees and demanding hunters from Texas to Alaska. WYNDHAMS RANGE RIDER, a light deadgrass, is the equally determined speedball brother. He also has proven progeny working for sportsmen from the Pacific North West to Northern Europe. CH. WYNDHAMS UNEQUALED, is a larger dog with exceptional athletic ability and bird sence. The very level headed pack leader and is also invaluable when training the kennels youngsters. He has sired top class workers that are also good looking Chesapeakes and is also well known as a producer of reliable assistance and guide dogs for handicapped owners. All stock in the kennel are work proven, have comprehensive health and soundness screaning both as youngsters and as working veterans. Each of these represent 10 or more generations of careful work oriented selection in the Wyndham program. Inquiries are invited from sportsmen who want easy to train durable Chesapeakes that work for their owners not from fear. No animals in this program are ever force trained or subjected to electric collars. They are very responsive and reliable because working as a team in inherent in their nature and is nurtured into them from the time they can respond to sound and smell in the nest.
