Spring-Summer Flat Coated Retriever Litter Planned - Flat Coated Retrievers in Ashley, North Dakota - Wyndham and Wyndhamian RetrieversThe Wyndham-Wyndhamian Flat Coated Retrievers are a private hobby kennel of hunting dogs established by Ed Atkins as a 10 year old boy in 1953. The goal from the beginning was to produce healthy, easy to train calm flatcoats with focus capable of hard work for 12 or more seasons. The kennel works its dogs in the very game rich Dakota prairie country. The dogs working from blinds for Canada and light geese, sandhill cranes, and many species of duck on the fields and prairie pothols and along the Missouri and James rivers. For upland hunting the dogs are worked on pheasants, sharptailed grouse and partridge. The seasons open with early Canada Goose and doves in late August or early September and continue into early January. Teams of this kennels dogs are out almost daily. Breeding is taken very seriously with no effort spared to acquire the very best stock and all litters are born in Mr. Atkins home, where the pups are handled daily and nurtured to bond with humans. Early puppy training in the nest begins with the come command on a whistle associated with the delivery of food during the weaning process. Early retrieving is introduced at about 6 weeks of age. All puppies will retrieve to hand before being ready to leave for new homes at 8 weeks old. The success of this program is clearly indicated by the facts. The first flatcoat female to place in an all age field trial in North America was imported by this program, the second female to place in an all age FT stake in NA was co-bred by Mr. Atkins. A Licensed FT Derby stake winner was bred here. The first two flatcoat Master Hunter animals were out of a Wyndham N. litter bitch and another from this N. litter was mother of the only flatcoat to attain Amateur FT Champion status in USA or quality for the National Amateur stake. Two flatcoats exported to Europe won A Trial Open Stakes and a Wyndham bitch produced a Dual Ch (Field Trial and Show). While the field titles and many champions are nice, the emphasis is to produce quality working gundogs that are also delightful to live with. The Wyndha,"O.O." litter will be out of the imported liver colored bitch, Faradorn Pretty Peachie. I purchased this three year old bitch as a puppy, along with her black sister Faradorn Midnight Millie. They come from a wide array of older working lines with noe of the popular show stock in their ancestry. Peachie as her pictures below show, is a very striking and classical flatcoat in looks; well up to size and substantial, her looks and focused attitude are all worker. She is also a very happy and sweet natured animal that is always a joy to live with. Her female and male ancestors are known as durable long livong animals that get the job done. The sire of the "O.O." litter will be the Norwegian dog Ch. Agrobo's William Woodcraft Junior (1990 -2004), whose British bred sire and American bred dam, both traced to some of this kennels best stock from the late 1960's, 70's and early 1980's. "Through use of frozen semen collected from "Duke" in 2001 the Wyndham-Wyndhamian stock from more than 25 years ago will be returning to the home kennel. Since his death in 2004 there have been two litters of pups sired by "Duke" via artificial insemination. These litters consisted of 12 and 11 puppies respectively. As this is a black dog and does not appear to carry the liver color it is expected that all puppies born will be black. With a very strong demand for the carefully bred and reared pups from the Wyndham-Wyndhamian breeding effort those interested in a healthy and work bred pup should contact Mr. Atkins as soon as possible as this litter will most certainly be totally reserved prior to the mating. Those inquiring by email should include information about themselves; where they live, their telephone number, what their interest is, what experience they have had with the breed and dogs in general, and how the animal will be trained and cared for.
