Upcoming Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Litter - Wirehaired Pointing Griffons in Ledger, Montana - Shock Kennels We are currently planning a breeding for Nov or Dec, whenever Liz comes into heat. Our girl Shocks Fieldsweeper Elizabeth, call name Liz, is being bred to our male Axel of Neenah Creek. We are expecting to get a high prey drive and desire, great nose, a genuine love of water, intense points, early starting, easily trained, but calm in the house.
Our girl Liz stands 23 in and weighs 49 lbs. She is nicely proportioned, with a dense harsh outercoat, and a dense undercoat. She has nice facial furnishings, but not excessive. She has been an easy keeper from day one, just wanting the pleasure of your company, and an ease of trainability relating to her desire to please. She is not a hard charger in the field, preferring to work at a foothunters pace, always within sight of you. 75 yards is a long cast for this girl, and will hold point forever, a fantastic natural retriever and a great marker. She never casts around for a dead bird, almost always straight to the bird and straight back, unless it is a runner, and then she can track with the best due to her great nose.
The sire, Axel of Neenah Creek, has been Utility tested never acquiring better than a Pr II, due to his huge drive and desire. His desire to get the bird whatever the circumstances led to steadiness issues in his early testing career. I decided Pr II was good enough and quit his NAVHDA career. We started running him in NSTRA, and garnered enough placements to prove he could compete with pointers, setters, GSP's, and GWP's. Where Axel really shines though is in the guide string and late season hunting. He will push out to 150 yds, but when he finds the birds he is steady as a rock. He is good about checking back,so If he is missing, he is on point somewhere, it is up to you to go where he last was and find him. His best attributes show up in the duck blind. He is tireless when it comes to retrieving waterfowl, and truly loves the work. I think if you could ask him he would rather spend a day in the blind than just about anything else. Ducks in the ponds, Geese in the Missouri in Dec, it makes no difference, he can handle geese among the ice floes in late Dec once even crawling on to the floe to retrieve a wounded goose. He has no fear in the water.
If these are the qualities you are looking for in your next puppy write me an email and let me know. Prices will be $1000.00 for males, $1200.00 for females. I am guiding now and won't get back until Dec, but will answer back then. Thank you for your interest, Scotty.
