THE FALL PUPPIES HAVE ARRIVED.

The 7 members of the WYNDHAM "H.H." litter were born 25 September, powerfully built pups with wonderful Chesapeak coats and full the the real Chesapeake vitality.

The Wyndham Chesapeakes are a very focused kennel of working Chesapeakes. Founded in 1953 by the then 10 year old Ed Atkins. The aim remains today 57 years later to provide sound durable and easy to train animals for Mr. Atkins shooting hobby. During the past 57 years, individual members of this kennel's shooting teams have averaged better than 12 shooting seasons of work. The season here begins each year with the early goose season (currently in August-September), doves, partridge, sharptailed grouse, sandhill cranes and regular waterfowl. The pheasant season runs from mid October through early January. Shooting resumes for a couple of weeks in March-April, when the snow geese migrate through on the way back north. Hunting areas include the Missouri river basin, the prairie potholes and open field hunting for waterfowl. Most upland hunting is done on the wide open great plains, farm fields and treelines.

The long season with extreme weather conditions require physically tough,  athletic retrievers with strong desire to find and retrieve game. Working alone or as part of a dog team all of our dogs must be rock steady, focused and accept strangers and their dogs working in the same vecinity. These durable hard working Chesapeakes have demonstrated through long seasons and years of experience that they are the right sort for family companions and outstanding hunting dogs. The kind that make hunting really fun and memorable every time birds are sought.

Litters are bred to produce replacement animals needed for the home kennel's shooting team. The emphasis is to produce the sound durable members of this wonderful breed that can work in any conditions, are a joy to have as members of the family and please the eye of long term breed fanciers as true working Chesapeakes. There are currently Chesaspeakes bred here working for demanding sportmen from Central America to Alaska, from the Pacific coast to Europe and it was recently learned that there are Chesapeakes line-bred to Wyndham  stock as far away as Australia.

Fall Litter Planned:

One Fall litter is being planned sired by the grand old dog, Wyndhams Raging River. "Ranger" is a veteran of 10 shooting seasons and is still a very happy, focused and ready to go retriever. His daughter have proven excellent workers and exceptional producers for this effort and friends. Therefore before age prevents it it has been decided to mate another female to him in the hope of providing another daughter here for our future use in the field and to carry on the breeding in the future.

Several long time Chesapeake owners here in USA and in Canada  have already reserved pups from this upcoming "Ranger" breeding but there is room for a couple of additional reservations. The litter is due in the third week of September. All, Wyndham Chesapeakes are usually reserved prior to birth. Reservations are accepted from approved individuals along with a nonrefundable 50% deposit. Those inquiring should provide their full names and location, their reason for seeking a Chessie pup and experience with this unique breed, information about how the pup will be housed, used and trained and  a home telephone number.
