German Shorthair Kennel
|
Dankar Kennels is a small fammily kennel located West of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Our kennels have covered outside runs, with heated indoor runs for the dogs comfort and security. Indoor heated areas allow training to continue in inclement weather and during the long winter months. Dan has been an avid outdoors man and hunter his entire life with a passion for grouse hunting and GSP's. Kara was raised in a hunting home that included GSP's and a litter or two of puppies. Dan and Kara are both members of the Tri-Tronics Influentials Club and the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, actively participating in several local NAVHDA chapters. Kara and Dan have both developed a talent for training and testing Versatile gun dogs.

At Dankar Kennels our breeding program strives to produce healthy versatile bred future gun dogs and valued family members. We follow the time tested principle of "breeding the best to the best" of versatile GSP's. Dogs selected for breeding have proven their natural abilities and talents both in the field and in the NAVHDA system of versatile dog testing. Our breeding dogs conform to the German Shorthaired Pointer breed standard (AKC and IABCA) while possessing the traits and characteristics we believe should be carried forward in the German Shorthaired Pointer breed. Dankar GSP puppies will possess the drive and desire to produce game for the gun along with the natural instincts to point, retrieve, and back. These qualities coupled with a strong work ethic and stable disposition will produce puppies that are highly trainable, eager to learn, and willing to please. These traits and natural instincts ensure our puppies will excel in the field, be successful in any training or testing program, and undoubtedly become cherished members of your family.

Dankar Puppies are whelped and raised in our home. Puppies are exposed to and socialized with other dogs, children, and adults daily.
At 3 to 16 days of age Dankar puppies begin a program of neurological stimulation modeled after the U.S.Militaries BIO-SENSOR/SUPER DOG program. The BIO-SENSOR/SUPER DOG program was developed to improve the performance of dogs through early neurological stimulation. A set of 5 exercises designed to stimulate and stress the neurological system is done daily with each puppy. BIO-SENSOR/SUPER DOG puppies benefit from the program with improved cardio vascular performance, stronger heart beats, stronger adrenal glands, a greater tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease. Additionally, BIO-SENSOR/SUPER DOG puppies were found to be more active, more exploratory, more tolerant of testing, less stressed, and when compared to non-stimulated puppies proved dominant in competitive situations.
Puppies will be registered with AKC and NAVHDA (North America Versatile Hunting Dog Association). They will come to you with their first shots given, dew claws removed, tails docked, and a veterinarian check. Puppies can be reserved for a non-refundable $100.00 deposit and will be chosen in the order deposits are received. Six deposits will be accepted per litter and then a list of interested parties will be kept for any additional puppies. Puppies typically go home at eight weeks old but, may leave the litter at 49 days of age. The puppies will be exposed to quail, pigeons, and ducks before leaving the litter and water introduction will be done weather permitting. |
