About Shadywood Brittanys

Welcome to Shadywood Brittanys

10 puppies born May 16th - info & pictures on my website www.shadywoodbrittanys.com

Located 20 miles east of Olympia, in the town of Rainier, WA, Shadywood Brittanys is a small kennel raising quality Brittanys for companionship, show and field. Our dogs are OFA'd for hip displasia and also have their eyes cleared. After much research on the Brittany I chose this breed for their compact size, friendly disposition, ease of grooming, and willingness to please. Brittanys can be dual champions in the ring and field, can compete in obedience and agility, or settle down at home as easily. Competing in the show ring and hunting is a great way to have fun with your dog and meet some wonderful Brittany people.

OUR DOGS

CH Shadywood Sanbar's Legend Has It - aka Carson - pick puppy out of Trixie/Kody litter. Sire is DC BISS Sanbar Castle Built On Legends JH. Carson won his first puppy class at the Brittany Specialty June 11th, 2010 and his first point 9/5/10 and went Best of Winners. Carson will be our foundation stud for our kennels and we have great plans for his future. March, 2011 Carson became a new champion, winning Best of winners, Best Bred By Exhibitor and Best of Breed. On Aug. 6, 2011 Carson ran his first field trial and did very well. He is very birdy and will continue with his hunting career. Trained by Double Gun Ranch, Eagle Creek, OR. Now standing at stud to approved bitches. He will be working on his Master Hunter in 2013

Shadywood Guns N Roses - aka Rosie - our newest addition. Out of CH Wind Mtn Puttin On The Ritz (Trixie) and CH Wind Mtn's Ironman (Tony). Rosie won Best Puppy at the Puyallup dog show June 2012 and also completed two legs of her juniot hunter title in June. She took two 4th place ribbons in a field trial as a 10 month old. Rosie is in training at Double Gun Ranch and is getting ready for the Brittany Futurity in Idaho, April 2013. She will competing in hunt tests and field trials as well as show competition in 2013.

CH Three B's Once In A Blu Moon - aka "Blu", a sweet, fun, orange roan girl who has a personality to please. Blu is OFA Good, elbows normal. Blu completed her show championship with 4 major wins. She produces puppies with wonderful temperaments, structure, and hunting ability.

RETIRED DOGS

CH Wind Mtns Puttin On the Ritz white/orange, OFA Good, elbows normal, eyes cleared. "Trixie" finished her championship at the Rose City Classic Jan 2009 by winning Winners Bitch at the Brittany Specialty and taking Best of Winners the same weekend. Her first time out as a Special she won Best Opposite Sex at the Timberland Dog Show April 2009. Trixie is a charmer and very loved. She is the dam of Carson and Rosie.

Shadywood Touch of Gold - "Jay" has been shown in conformation and has earned 10 points but really never enjoyed it so he is currently enjoying hanging out at home.

We have puppies occasionally, striving to produce a healthy puppy, following the AKC standard.. All of our puppies come on contract, with a guarantee for hip displasia. They come with their shots as needed, worming, tails docked and dewclaws removed. Each puppy will be evaluated for conformation, personality, and hunting potential at around 7-8 weeks. We make sure all the puppies are well socialized so that they will make great family members and we recommend obedience training to continue their education. We purchased our first Brittany (Freckles) from Shadywood Kennels 13 years ago. He has been a most satisfactory dog, great companion, and excellent hunter. Having worked in a small animal hospital all through high school, I am familiar with many of the different breeds and their temperaments; the Shadywood Brittany's are outstanding. As Freckles has aged, we became concerned about a life without his endless enthusiasm and good company. When we learned that Shadywood had a litter due, we signed up immediately.
Our new puppy, Scooter, is shaping up to be another fine, composed, good-natured companion. He and Freckles are doing very well together, with the puppy learning how things are done around here from the older dog. Scooter shows great interest in the pheasant wing and, at 4 months or so,is very eager to please. His training is going very easily. I would recommend Shadywood to anyone for a dog for home, field, or show.

Awesome experience for my family and I. I couldn't hope for a better experience. Sherry allowed my daughters and I to spend every weekend with the litter from 2 weeks until they were old enough to come home. She worked hard to insure we got the best temperment and fit for our family and answered all our questions. Koda is now 7 months old and is progressing nicely into a gun dog. He has his first leg for his junior hunter title and we hope to make a field champ out of him some day. If you are looking for a Brittany then I recommend you visit Shadywood Brittanys.

I purchased a puppy from the Blu/Gunnar litter in the spring of 09 and he has been noting but outstanding. Very good looking dog. I constantly receive compliments from other dog owners. Great temperament, great with kids and outstanding his first hunt. He was not on my heels the whole time like most pups. He stayed out in front of me, nose down and never ranged much farther than 20 feet from me at any time unless I was hunting with other people. Outstanding hunter at 6 months of age and i expect nothing but more great hunting from him.

I have personally seen these dogs perform in the ring and met the owner and was very impressed. It is very apparent that Sheryl is passionate about improving the Brittany breed and you can see that while talking to her about her dogs. I strongly recommend anyone looking into buying a Brittany to speak to Sheryl first!
