Fireside Retrievers was established in 1988. Our goal is to bred not only a top field trial dog, but also a dog for hunting, obedience, agility and one who will make an excellent all-around companion. Trainability, tractability, intelligence and retrieving ability are very important in our breeding program.

We have bred dogs pointed in Field trials, Master Hunters, Obedience Trial Champions and Agility Trial Champions.

All our girls have all their clearances and we only use top sires that also have all clearances.

If you want a Golden Retriever that can do it all, I reccommend a Fireside Golden. I had never trained a dog for Hunt tests before and Meadow made me look like a professional when she ran her junior hunter and WC tests. She is also an awesome obedience dog and tracking dog. She lives to work but at the same time she is also a calm and perfect house dog. I just got another Fireside puppy and she is already proving to be a fast learner with lots of retrieve drive. I thank Susan and Pat for these awesome girls. They are a great joy in my life and a thrill to work with in all AKC avenues.

My 5 year old MACH ADCH Fireside's Screamin' Cheetah, MXF,TM-Br,CD,RN "Cheetah" is a great dog. She is wicked smart and loves to work! She has been to Agility Nationals for the last 3 years and has competed in the WT tryouts for the last two years. She is an amazing agility dog and a great dog to live with. I couldn't be happier with my Fireside Golden, OTCH-H Fireside's A Dash Of This, TDX, UDX-H,UD, RN known as "Dasher". He has great working aptitude for everything we've trained for. He passed his AKC TDX at a mere 2 years of age on his FIRST attempt! The average pass rate is around 10%. He has 3 perfect 200 scores in obedience - one of THREE Fireside dogs to achieve a perfect score. He has won many High In Trials, and just finished his obedience trial championship. My Fireside dog, McKenna, will be 4 in June. He loves the water and is very comfortable in the water. We do tracking, hunt test, and obedience. While he is high drive in the field he is so gentle in the house. I have never had a dog that I felt so close to as my Fireside McKenna. Thanks to the Shelmadines.

Susan and Pat breed fantastic field goldens. I currently have a 5 year old female that is an awesome agility dog and I will be getting another puppy from them this week. Their dogs are driven and want to work. They have a fantastic water attitude. I would recommend the Fireside dogs to anyone that wants a working golden.
