At BootPoint our goal is to breed "Dual Quality" GSP's that can excel both in field and the show ring and become Dual Champions if desired. If you buy a GSP from us, you can expect a dog that will be a GREAT family pet and a wonderful hunting dog. After all, 90% of our dogs go to hunters. The temperaments and health of our dogs are the most important concern to us. You can expect a dog that is "within" the breed standard, a dog that is medium sized, that looks like a GSP should. A "good looking hunting dog". In the field, you can expect a dog that is a natural retriever, on land and water, and a natural backer. A dog that is easily trained and very biddable. All of the dogs in our breeding program have extensive hunting experience and have been tested, titled, and evaluated through the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) and or the American Kennel Club (AKC) and or the International All Breed Canine Association (IABCA). These organizations offer an excellent means to evaluate each dog's inherent ability and potential.
BootPoint Kennels is located in Petersburg, VA. We have been training and breeding dogs and horses all our life. Early on we had Pointers, German Shorthaired Pointers, Field Trialed Beagles, and showed and trained Rottweiler's but more recently we have been focused on German Shorthaired Pointers and American Saddlebred horses. Initially we got involved with GSPs as pets and hunting companions, but once bitten by the GSP bug we quickly realized that the GSP's versatile nature made them excellent Obedience, Agility, Conformation, and Hunting dogs.
Our GSPs are members of our family and when we breed our puppies also become members of the family. We believe that puppy development begins with the breeding and continues until the puppy goes to his new home. As a result, our puppies are whelped in the house and begin receiving lots of love and attention from the moment they are born. Before going home our puppies are evaluated for show quality as well as aptitude for obedience, agility and hunting.
