The companionship that one receives from a loyal dog is priceless. My daughter and I have always loved animals, and we dog-sit for families throughout the year. We have spent time with Mr. Kelvin's dogs over the last several summers and we have always been so impressed with his dogs as well as all of the puppies!! There is always so much excitement leading up to our dogsitting engagements with them. Ballentine Breeders extends a loving and very well maintained environment for their dogs and new puppies. Their dogs are incredibly family oriented, and Mr. Kelvin begins stimulating their natural hunting instincts when they are tiny pups.

Haylee and I purchased a pup from Mr. Kelvin last August. His name is Jax, and he is absolutely incredible. Jax is an excellent example of true companionship and loyalty. At only a few months old, Jax had mastered skills that most dogs take much longer to accomplish. He responds so well to training. Jax's enthusiasm in the water is awesome to watch as well as his strong instinctive hunting skills. The pedigrees of Mr. Kelvin's dogs produce a true balance of companionship and champion hunting skills. I can not say enough about Jax, or his mom Kate. Truly exceptional dogs!! Mr. Kelvin takes pride in his abilities as a dog breeder and we thank you for helping to set the standards high for breeders in the area.

We purchased our Boykin (Turk) from Kelvin in July of 2016. We have owned many dogs and many different breeds, This dog has been the best ever. He is very smart and took nothing to have him completely trained. Thanks to Kelvin for training him in the water and holding him until he was 12 weeks for us to be able to get there and pick him up. I can't say enough about this dog.
Thank You Kelvin

I got Chief from Ballantine Boykins about a year ago and was a great addition to our family immediately. Kelvin was very helpful and willing to answer all my questions about Boykins being that I have never been around this type of dog before. Kelvin from the beginning was constantly sending me pics of all the pups and keep me up dated with there personalities. We talked about the kind of dog I was looking for, being in California I could not hand pick my puppy. I was nervous about how we would get the puppy and Kelvin made it very easy by knowing everything that needed to be done in order to fly the puppy to us. Chief is a great family dog that loves kids and other pets and he gets compliments every where we go on how he is such a beautiful dog and how well behaved he is. He is a very eager to learn dog that was easy to train. At six months of age he was already in the duck blind retrieving ducks for me. He has a great noise that's always on the ground and is an amazing hunting dog. He will retrieve anything with feathers no problem at all. At home he is very mellow and loves to relax around the house with his family. I have nothing but great things to say about Ballantine Boykin's.

Found this breeder on gundogbreeders.com and purchased a male Boykin Spaniel pup on Father's Day 2016. Kelvin was a pleasure to work with and, I could not be happier with my dog. Great hunting instincts, easy to train, and he interacts well with people and other dogs. I would not hesitate to recommend this breeder.

Purchased my Boykin 2 years ago from Ballentine Boykin Spaniels. Not only are the bloodlines excellent, but they care about good quality dogs in the field. They also provide excellent information and service if you are looking for a new pup for your family. Give Kelvin a call!!!

Kelvin is amazing at what what he does - caring for and breeding Boykins. He not only cares about the breed, but of the individual dogs themselves even after they leave his care. Riley is my first hunting dog and he is more than I had hoped for. He's healthy, sturdy, and exceptionally "birdy". The vet is always impressed with how healthy he is. Working with Kelvin, even though I'm from another state was no problem at all. When there were complications with the flight, he was on the phone with the airlines resolving the issues. Riley loves to hunt. I've taken him dove, duck, goose, and pheasant hunting and he loves all of it. He's even jumped a few rabbits.

What I feel sets Kelvin apart is how he preps the dog prior to the transfer of ownership. Taking the dog for rides in his truck, exposure to gunfire, swimming, bumpers, basic dog and gun training, dog and human socialization, retrieves all helped make my training easier. He also takes the initiative to keep in touch and check in on Riley. When I had questions on training and behavior, he always responded with advice that makes sense and works. It is really is the small things that add up to something great and I have a wonderful little brown hunting partner. I found Kelvin over the internet and I highly recommend him for Boykins who love to hunt and love you.
