Submitted by: jason galloway on Nov 03, 2013I'm in the process of retiring a golden retriever that set the standard for being the consummate gun dog, hunting partner, friend, companion and protector. I decided that since he only has a few good hunting years left and because he's slowing down on cold water retrieves but still LOVES upland retrieves, that I would bring in a pure water dog and so I decided on a Chessie. I have been all over the internet looking at every possible breeder in North America. I almost bought a couple of puppies from breeders in the States but in the end I decided to stick with a breeder in Canada because I felt it would be easier to deal with any problems and also because I don't want to have to deal with any cross border regulations. I ordered a puppy from Billy after doing exhaustive homework and I couldn't be happier with his service. He has patiently answered all my questions and gone out of his way to help me. The puppy isn't ready for pick up yet and the anticipation is killing me. I spent the better part of last night researching the pedigrees of the sire and dam and was truly amazed at the quality of dog this litter should be. Both the sire and dam came from breeders that I had been looking at and in one case the dam was the product of the exact same planned breeding I was willing to pay twice as much for. Take this for what it's worth because I haven't picked the puppy up yet but I expect great things when he is trained because he comes from very good lineage. One version of the "line" will stop with my dog because he will never be bred and he will never been shown. The only runway he will ever be on is the "launch dock" attached to my duck blind so I don't need a bunch of fancy titles behind his name; I just need a dog that will hunt and I'm betting that with this breeder I got exactly that…at half the cost of what other breeders are charging. I am a big fan of Leadbeater Retreivers for two reasons; the price is reasonable for a quality bred dog and Billy himself has been nothing short of amazing to deal with. I'll send another testimonial when I pick up the dog and after I've had him for three and six months because I think anyone looking for a CBR is missing the boat if they are not checking out this breeder. Thank you Billy for ending a three month search for the perfect hunting companion on such a high note. JCG
