We have had a wonderful experience dealing with Gerda and Bill Smith. We were kept up to date at all times as to the puppies progress after their birth till we picked up our beautiful Neka. She has been a joy and the whole experience is a good one. We would feel confident to recommend the Smiths to anyone wanting an American Water Spaniel. Halle is our third American Water Spaniel. She is 9 months old as of March 2009. We have loved all of them but after talking and meeting with Gerda and Bill I knew that their hearts were in breeding these dogs. We were given all the time to choose which pup we wanted but it wasn't hard to choose Halle. Gerda and Bill have welcomed us into their family and we continue to contact each other with updates and funny stories about Halle. A wonderful breed of dog for hunting, family life and overall companionship.I strongly recommend Bill and Gerda in all aspects.

My wife and I drove eleven hours to Penn Yan, NY to Gerda and Bill's home to purchase a puppy. Molly is our second AWS and we would have driven much further. The AWS is a very smart dog and most of all, very affectionate. Gerda and Bill make you feel like long-lost friends and are most accommodating. They have a great kennel and a remarkable blood line. Gerda calls every few weeks to check to see how the puppy and owners are getting along.

Molly has quickly settled in as a family member in our home. She just graduated from puppy school. If you're looking for a remarkable breed and fabulous breeder, contact Gerda Smith. You will not regret it!

I picked up my beautiful puppy (Lily) today. What an exciting day. Bill and Gerda Smith are such wonderful people. They gave me the royal treatment and demonstrated what having a Water Spaniel is all about. What I find amazing is I felt like I made 2 new friends today.

Bill and Gerda Smith are dedicated breeders of American Water Spaniels. They carefully screen their potential breeding stock for health problems prior to any breeding. They spend time hunting and training their dogs to both retrieve and upland hunt. Their breeding program produces wonderful puppies that are healthy, birdy, alert, active and eager to please their new owners. Whether it be for show, pet, hunting, hunt tests or just a house dog, you can't go wrong with one of their pups.

Are you not sure if you want an American Water Spaniel or not? Don't know what they look like up close and personal? Like to know how do they behave? Call them and talk to them. They will likely invite you to come out to see and meet their dogs and watch them work in the field - especially if you are interested in hunting them. Be forewarned, you probably will put down a deposit on a pup before you leave! LOL!
