I did 2 years worth of research on gun dog breeds. When my family and I decided on Brittany’s it was because of their hunting ability, size, and friendly disposition. There were some breeders that said Brittany's were hyper and that did concern us. I picked up our puppy 18 months ago from Doc Berlet. She is the best dog I've ever owned. I obedience trained her easily and she performed exceptionally at 11 months last season with my amateur training. She only gets excited when she's chasing game and is calm in the house. My wife, kids, and my neighbors love Katie. She hasn't had any health issues. I can't say enough about Doc and his dogs. I told Doc Berlet 6 yrs ago that I wanted a "dual quality" puppy. I waited 9 months for the right litter and brought Blaze home in August, 2004. Blaze (DC Britt Haven's Blaze of Glory) easily finished his bench and field champion titles and was the #6 Brittany Gun Dog in the AKC in 2008 and the North Jersey Brittany Club's Dual Dog of the Year.
