Bluestem Kennels - Nebraska Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Breeders

Bluestem Kennels is dedicated to producing quality AKC/NAVHDA registered hunting Wirehaired Pointing Griffon puppies and we only breed spring litters for the express purpose of hunting our dogs during the fall and winter. Our dogs are not only hunted on wild birds in Nebraska and the Dakotas from September 1st through January 31st, but they are also working hunting guide dogs at a local pheasant preserve through the fall, winter and spring, as preserve season in Nebraska lasts until March 31st. These are versatile dogs who are well-versed in pointing and retrieving upland birds, but are also worked jump-hunting waterfowl and retrieving from the water. Our griffons are natural pointers and retrievers, therefore are very easy to train. They are also our family pets to our children ages 2 1/2, 7 and 10. Puppies are started on hunt conditioning at the age of 5 1/2 weeks, which includes exercise multiple times a day, exposure to the wing, live birds, water and the noise of the cap gun.
