![]() About SWAN CREEK KENNELS
Above, from our Jan 2008 litter, 6 month old Dane'll. Owners Phil and Walda Rogers of Windy Acres Kennels in North Dakota. We are a small family business located in Northern Minnesota about 100 miles south of the Canadian border. We got our first French Brittany, Lakotas Jake, in 2000. He is a great hunter, companion and family dog. After a few years of my husband wanting to get a second dog, I gave in and we got Bailee. She is great and the two dogs are inseperable. We came to realize how great these dogs were, not only in the field, but with adults and children. Thats when we decided to do something so we could share these wonderful animals with others. This is our second year in buisiness and we are having a blast... We now have four Epagnuel Bretons. Our original Cody and Bailee and our new additions, Sophie and Doc. Sophie came here from Surpris, AZ and we adopted Doc from our friends at Windy Acres Kennel in ND. We are busy now with training and building more kennels. You can see all of our dogs on our website. We will be planning our next litter with Cody and Bailee this fall with an estimated whelping date of January 2009. Unfortunately, because of the weather in MN, shipping will not be an option. Please visit our website and take a look!!

She helped me see several onopening day even though we had a soaker of a rain most of the day. Her points were not rock solid but she showed great promise as she knew the grouse were there and would stop or she would circle around on the trail very quickly before heading into the woods. I was able to be ready to shoot in most cases. The grouse were not cooperative as far as sitting and waiting for a dog to point them, they seemed to keep on the move or would flush too quickly, none of which was Sylvie's fault. I was very pleased that an 8 month old pup could do what she could do. The picture isn't very good but she didn't want to sit still when she came out of the woods. I believe she already has the grouse scent in memory (something my other dog..a lab... needed about 2-3 years to learn). I'm very thrilled with her progress, I already have a hunting buddy." Nell is 28# calm, quiet, warm , loving and a super house dog. We are very pleased with her training and adaptation to most any situation. Her field work is going great and I expect she will add to the productivity this fall. Again thanks for such a great pup. Keep in touch. Phil and Walda Submitted by: Amanda Whiting on Jun 28, 2008 My husband and I looked many places for French Brittany puppies, because we had heard of their hunting talents. After several dissapointing searches we called Swan Creek Kennels. The first thing that suprised us was the kind, friendly, and helpful nature of these breeders. They were more than willing to answer any questions we had. We drove to their home to meet the puppy and were met by the same kindness. We met Dakota and were very impressed by his obedience and demeanor. Without any hesitation we took home Bandit. Now, several months later, we are absolutely happy with this puppy. His has a wonderful nature; obedient, highly trainable, energetic but not too energetic, friendly, gentle with our other pets, and loving. My husband, a game hunter, is also amazed by his hunting abilities. Bandit has a very strong nose and natural instincts when looking for and dealing with birds! We are more than pleased by our experience and would recommend Swan Creek Kennels to anyone looking for a French Brittany, or simply a great pet! WIth Swan Creek you will also find a great relationship with breeders who care about their pups. Submitted by: Andrea Topolski on May 26, 2008 My brother and I purchased a puppy from Sue and Jim. They lived nearly 400-500 miles from us and they so kindly said that they would try to cut our drive to a shorter distance. They looked up a good place to meet and contacted us to set up a time. Jake is just the cutest little puppy. Brittany's are very good with children and a great family pet. My experience with Sue and Jim was an absolute wonderful experience.Submitted by: Jan Rootham on May 23, 2008 Sylvie is 13 weeks old now. I spent some time on the UKC websitethis morning and found that the French Brittanies were used for hunting the Grey Partridge ( around here known as the Hungarian Partridge) in the field trials and actual wild hunting situations. Now, I had been using a pheasant wing I found frozen in my garage from last falls hunting for some retrieving training with Sylvie but lost the wing out in the field somewhere, so I went on a road trip around the area looking for roadkill. In about 40 miles I found one dead bird... a hungarian partridge!!! I haven't seen one in years. So now I have the perfect sized specimen for her small mouth. When I throw this carcass upwind in the tall grass she never misses finding it and brings it right back. (downwind not so great) Amazing for such a small young dog. We know the session is over when she heads back to the house with her prize in her mouth instead of bringing it to me. We are working on "Sit" when she brings it back, but are just starting the obedience training now. What great natural instincts these dogs have! Submitted by: Phil Rogers on Mar 19, 2008 Sue and Jim,As you know Iv been a French Brittany breeder for 5 years now. Also 44 years all toll with Brittany's in general. Seldom have I had a pup as nice as this little girl DeNe'll.At 9 weeks she is very promising. We appreciate the time you spent with Nell and her health and attitude proves her good lines. We are excited to add her to our lines. I told you about her pointing yesterday. she was a hoot. Since my first desire for my clients is providing good hunter lines her attitude and affection is a bonus. We are pleased you got into the business and wish you the best of luck.
