We lived in Rhode Island when the puppies were born, and relied on Virginia to choose our next pet.
Dexter is everything we ever could ask for in a companion and so much more. He is only 5 months old but behaves like a well trained adult. He can be trusted alone in our home and follows all commands.
He loves going to the dog park and playing with the other dogs in our community, but is guarded when a stranger approaches our door. He is a perfect example of his breed, and we owe it all to Virginia's excellent breeding.

From the start I had Virgina pick my pup and she nailed it! Ace is a go getter and is here to please. I simply wanted a hunting dog, well Ace has exploded in to way more. Having his HR title and currently running Finished and being successful at that level at the young age says enough. Very steady, EXCELLENT marker. Ace is my companion in the field and at home. Very well mannered dog. Great hunting/hunt test dog.

Brother to dog pictured. He's a CH.JH.WD.CD.RN. Best of all, he is loving, fun, and a wonderful companion for all of us. Couldn't ask for a more compassionate responsible breeder. Highly recommend to hunt, show, or loving home.

We purchased my first Chessy from Virginia, Duffy has passed away I have every intention of purchasing another from her when breeding schedule allows. I would recommend this breeder to anyone who is interested in acquiring a dog. She is conscience about her breeding policies.

We got our Charlie Brown from Virginia. Charlie is our first Chessie. But certainly not our last. Virginia is a wonderful woman and compassionate breeder. She introduced us to all of Charlie's parents and grandparents as well as Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other dogs in her care. She was a wealth of knowledge about the breed. When we expand our family and bring a new puppy into our family we will make sure it is a Hardwoods Kennel Chessie.

I bought my yellow lab from Virginia, I did not have pick of the litter, but my pup was gorgeous sired by Rip Van Winkle, a French champion, at the time she had Chester my dogs Grandfather, I periodically will contact Virgina to tell her how Bruno is doing. He is a beautiful dog, beautiful coat, and a wonderful disposition. He is strong and active, you have to spell the word ball, because he lives to retrieve. I have been very pleased with the dogs I have gotten from Hardwood kennels.

I have a pup from Hardwood kennels. I am extremely happy with him. He is almost 9months old and I can already see he is going to me and amazing hunter! He has the will and want that any hunter could ask for in his/her gun dog. With a good breeding line he is extremely easy to train and has alot of natural skills and good attitude. Not only are Hardwoods dogs great hunters they are show quality. If i where to get another chessie it would definitely be from hardwoods!!

My chessie from Hardwood Retrievers is a healthy 11 year old male . He is very intelligent, gentle and loving, and did well in the ring (Best of Breed Detroit KC 2001). Mostly he is a family dog. Our kids were 5 & 7 when we brought him home. Virginia was always there when I needed her as a mentor and a friend. Highly recommended.
