We're repeat customers with Virginia Bartnicki. We're lined up to receive our second dog with her. Our current girl has high drive, and is an all around great companion for us. She is wicked smart, and is everything we were hoping out of a Chessie. Virginia was suggested to us originally by some very reliable sources. Her pack lives indoors with her, and are members of her family. Her dogs are within standard, well loved and cared for.

Virginia makes herself available to answer concerns and questions, and encourages visits with the pups. I highly recommend folks thinking of a companion, show, or hunt dog to consider Hardwood Chesapeakes.

My family got a wonderful Chesapeake from Virginia in 1998 her name was Grace. She lived to be 13 yrs old.I can't say enough wonderful things about Grace she had a junior hunting title at 11 months old, whistle trained and awesome duck and goose dog that worked hard on the Chesapeake Bay of Md.We are actually on the list to get another Chesapeake in the
Spring. If you are looking for a great breeder Virginia is wonderful and her dogs
are just as good.

I recently bought my second Chessie from Virginia. I was looking online and found that Hardwood kennels was close to me. I visited the Dam and Sir and the 7 other chessies she had there at her kennel. I decided to get a female and was very pleased with what I got. Daisy was born Feb. 25 2012. She is a very smart puppy, Im training her myself and Virginia gives me many tips on what to do.She is very helpful and breeds some of the best chessies I have seen..If you are looking to get your first Chessie I would recommend Hardwood Kennels Capac MI.

I have had two chessies from Virginia. Virginia cares about her dogs. The first chessie from Virginia was Dozer That dog would retrieve anything you asked him to. Dozer started having seizures between 2&3 yrs old. True to Virginias warranty we now own Dutch another amazing dog that even forgets about food when ducks or geese are flying I have never seen a retriever do that before. We were able to hunt Dozer until he was 12yrs old Dutch is now 4yrs old. Dutch has a never ending drive to hunt. When my wife will let me get another dog I will be giving Virginia a call.

I had a 11 year old Chesapeake named Jessie that passed away due to health problems. I was searching online for a breeder and called Hardwood Kennels Capac MI . I talked to Virginia the breed and told her my story about Jessie. After speaking with her and her beautiful chessies I felt at ease. She has chessies in the tri state area and some in Germany. I did call other breeders and she was in my price range. I decided to get my next chessie from her. She told me she would have a bitch in season soon so I was happy for that. I got to meet the dam and sire which where two show quality dogs and also good hunting dogs. I also researched her and found she has been breeding chessies for more then 30 years. When January came around good news Fergie took and was going to have puppies. I did get to visit the breeder and became good friends with her...Daisy was born Feb. 25th along with 3 other sisters. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get there first Chessie or second to use Virginia and Hardwood Kennels.

We have two Chessies from Hardwoods. They are the most amazing dogs and such loving companions. Virginia is the most conscientious breeder and works hard to maintain healthy dogs within the breed standards...not the overgrown, bigheaded monsters some other Michigan breeders are pushing these days. If you want a REAL Chessie, call Hardwoods.

Just over 2 years ago I had visited Hardwood kennels. A few months after that Ace came home. I was looking for a hunting companion. Virgina had picked out my pup after I had told her everything I was looking for, and she nailed it. Just over 2 years old Ace is a Hunter Retriever Champion!! From hunt test to hunting he just keeps surprising me. I cant say enough about my pup. With a combination of the great bloodlines, temperament, and right training you will have a great dog, with a very stylish look that is becoming harder to find in good dogs. My self and my trainer can not say enough about Ace. I highly recommend hardwood kennels for someone who is looking for a great dog with very high potential.

Hi to all. I am german, so i hope you can read my english, it is not so good as my dog was:-). My name is Silvia and I bought 2002 CH Hardwood Etobicoke (CH Chestnut Hills Calcutta X CH Hardwood Autumn Hickory), take him home on our knees with my husband inside an airplain to germany and let him grow. We have ever to say for our rest of life "Thank you" to Virgnina Bartnicki and this what i now write is the reason for:
He was our best dog that i ever had. Since 1986 I have had Chesapeake Bay Retrievers but he was the best.
For example: To be a stud in germany is not easy, you must get an allownes for it from the breedingclub. Health results, huntresult, showresults, behaviortests and so on you must have.
He done all with an excellent. Hips and ellbowes excellent. Yearly eychecks was excellent. PRA test: normal,EIC: normal and also the new german test for "Longcoat in CBR" he made with an (K/K) means both genes are shorthair, and so on. His first hunttest he made with 13 month! This what would you called an CD he made with an first place with 10 month. He was a birdy dog, but also a full huntingdog. He hunt doves also like deers or goose he was a very good bloodtrackingdog. The german hunters call us for helping them to hunt. And in show? He was high succesfull. He made the WINNER OF THE CENTURY (VDH) in 2006!!!BOB!!!This is an unique titel wish will never come once again (This you could reas also in the Bulletin) and so he got in a very short time all german CH titels and some special showtitel like "Brandenburger Winner" and so on.
He was a gentlem, a boy which we called a dog with great "will to please", he was never aggressiv and able to stay with a lot dogs together. German judges for behavoir and hunt and also judges for show gave him for charakter and outlooking all what you will have and never allow to dream. He made all dreams true and we have not worke for it. He was and such easy dog.
His children was also high sussecfull. His daughter Good Will Hunting Canton made WINNER OF THE CENTURY VDH (BOS)On this show only two adult, and two jung chessies was able to get this titel. His daughter "Good Will Hunting Don´t worry-be happy" made in juniorclass the second place, his daughter Good Will Hunting Ceddi Currahee in huntingclass a first place. Also his children in the other kennels was sooo sooooo successfull in show and hunt. Fools Farms Bonny Lass of Hardwood is Europewinner and mother of one very succesfull litter and other are full Champions with workinghunttitels etc. His son Good Will Hunting Conner produced right now 3 litters also high sussesull. I have to end with my words of my boy, because i miss him to death. A huntingaccident made a point in his life, so we lost him on the 21st Mai 2009. He was born in August 10th 2002 and we miss him more that we have words for. He was an magnifican dog and we are happy that wee freze him. So we have to say on the end a big THANK YOU for him to Virginia which gave us our "Number one" which is also grandfather of show and hunting Chessies. But without Nataniel Horn and Madelyn Conner, we wouldn´t find Virginia, and also Brenda and James Steward helped us later a lot. And it is now also to say that, without Brian and Angie Cox we would not be there where we are now. So it is up to us to say so much "Thank you" that we can say. To visit Virginia 2002, to come home with "Joe Joe" to germany, to meet Virginia and her pack 2005 for 4 weeks once again, and to go to the the Specialty in MD made us more than lucky. It was Virginia and her friends whitch show and teach us a lot about CBR breedings. Virginia! And now we can only pray that our upcomminglitter with your studdog Hardwood Chesacolas The Legend X CH Good Will Hunting Canton will breed the next generations of the co-produktion USA/Germany.
