About Pride and Joy Kennels
PRIDE AND JOY KENNELS -located in the grouse woods of western Maine We have been raising and breeding brittanys since we got our first brittany in 1972. Frank had always had hunting dogs but thought the brit would make a real good companion for our oldest son. We started Pride and Joy Kennels in 1976 after we purchased a bitch out of Dekalb Il because she was a real good POINTING BRITTANY, which was not common at that time. From the start, our philosophy has been that we do not breed unless it is to produce a great hunting dog whether it is in the Maine Woods or wherever there is great bird hunting. We hunt every one of our dogs in the Maine woods on grouse and woodcock several times a week during hunting season. We also compete in field trials with our dogs and have been successful. We have had one of our males, NFC/AFC Aux-Arc's Mark (shown in the photo above), win the national open championship and one of our females, 8X Am Fld CH/NAFC/FC/AFC Pride and Joy's Bunch of Annie (shown below), win the national amateur championship. We have had several other field champions since we have started.
The dogs we have today trace back to these national champions. We have produced dogs that have gone on to be titled including Field Champions, Amateur Field Champions, Dual Champions, and Master and Senior Hunters. Second generation dogs out of our breeding have gone on to be titled as: National Field Champions, National Amateur Field Champions, and dogs that have placed in the National Gundog and the National Amateur Gundog Championships. We always follow the belief that a good hunting dog comes from National Championship Bloodlines. In other words: The better the breeding, the better the hunting dog.
