Submitted by: Michael Ross on Mar 23, 2014I can’t say enough about my pointers out of Grey’s Outfitting or my experience with Garret and Nellie Booth. I lucked into working with Garret and Nellie when I was looking to get my young Lab some bird exposure and additional education for me with respect to training my dog. What developed was a lasting relationship with Garret and Nellie and a great pointing lab. However, it was my exposure to their Elhew pointers that changed my perspective of upland hunting. Almost four years ago I bought my first English pointer from them and have fallen in love with the breed from all perspectives. Opie (my first) has been the most incredible dog I have every hunted over. I would love to take credit, though it is hard wired into these dogs. He is an absolute sweetheart in my home with my wife and 8-year-old daughter, and unbelievably steady on birds in the field. Perhaps the best compliment came from a guide in Nebraska where I took Opie out on pheasant and was told that in his 10+ years of guiding this dog was one of the best he has ever seen (and subsequently requested how to get in touch with the breeders).
After my experience with Opie I jumped at the chance to purchase a full brother of my dog from a subsequent breeding at Grey’s Outfitting. I flew from Colorado to Bangor Maine earlier this year to pick up the pup. At four months this dog has exceeded all expectations. He too is a dream with the family and already holding points solid simply because he must. Again, I would love to take credit, though it is hard wired. On our third trip out on birds today he is already starting to honor Opie’s points and holding his points like it is something he has been doing for years. Should you choose to go with a dog from Grey’s Outfitting you may never consider another option.
