I purchased a wonderful little yellow lab female in December 2009 from Cedartree Kennels.

I have never had an experience like this before. I arrived at the kennels to pick out the new addition to my family. The kennels were spotless, Ed, Marlene and Mike were friendly. They were interested in me and what I would be doing with the puppy. I felt right away they were not going to sell a dog to someone just because they had the money....and I really liked that.

I was shown the two parents of my puppy and all of the other dogs at the kennel. I could see the way Ed, Marlene and Mike treated the dogs by the way the reacted when they walked in the room. They treat all of their dogs like I treat mine, like kids.

I was able to hunt behind some of the dogs of Cedartree last goose season. INCREDIBLE!!! It was very apparent these dogs hunt for Ed and Mike because they love it, not because they are forced to. I have always put the health and well being of the dog above myself, In my opinion, Cedartree Kennels operates the same way.

This was an amazing experience and I feel I purchased a puppy from people who really care about their dogs...not a breeder that is only in it for the money. When the time comes I will not hesitate to purchase another puppy from Cedartree Kennels.

Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to hunt with many bird dogs and bird dog owners. I’ve seen dogs that hunted well and dogs that should be left at home. Last year I had the chance sit in the goose blind with a few of the Labs from Cedartree Kennels. I was astounded at the skills these dogs possessed and their passion to hunt. Instead of a dog ruining my hunt I felt like I ruined the dog’s hunt when I missed my opportunities that cold morning. Have you ever had a dog look at you as if to say, “Really?” If you have, I think you understand.
I’m also amazed at the passion Ed, Marlene and Mike have for each of their dogs and the puppies they raise. Most of the hunters I’ve been around treat their dogs as if they’re just another tool used for a successful hunt. Just use them and throw them back in the box. That’s not the case here. The folks at Cedartree love each and every dog they have and have raised. Mike once told me that If I every stayed at the house that I would sleep outside before his dogs would. The passion and care that Cedartree gives their dogs shows in their dogs’ drive to please. The dogs don’t want to do well because they’re afraid to be punished; they want to do well because they love their owners.
Now I can proudly say that I am an owner of a beautiful Yellow Lab from Cedartree. I look forward to many years of that “Really?” look. If you’re looking for a high quality hunting and family dog look no further. You’ll find the drive to Cheney well worth it.
