I always wanted a dog as a kid... my mom was the one veto vote necessary to nix that plan. So, I waited until I had a home and family of my own.
Due to living in an apartment and having young children I waited seven years to welcome a Vizsla into our family. SEVEN YEARS! Finally the time and money was right and the hunt for a breeder began.
After a few dead ends and some discouraging news on how long it may take to get a puppy, I was directed to Chad & Nancy Chadwell at Hawksnest Kennels. A few short weeks later I was making the drive to Springfield to pick up my puppy, Trooper.
I always dreamed of this moment and they made it come true. I couldn't ask for nicer, more trustworthy or more dedicated people than them. They take very good care of their babies and even had them house trained already! They gave me my choice of three males and, well, the cliche is true: Trooper picked me. I got to meet both of his parents and they sent us on our way very, very well prepared.
He just turned eleven weeks old and he's amazing. Yes, he has a lot of puppy left in him and we're still getting him to grow out of what I call the "-ips": Yips (man, he's loud!), Nips (Only lost one shirt so far) & Drips (a few accidents in the house were to be expected). But again, he's got a lot of puppy left in him and even so, he loves our family and we simply adore him.
Vizslas have their own special challenges and Chad & Nancy have been very gracious with advice and help when I need it.
I assure you: adopting your puppy from Hawksnest will be something you never regret and always cherish. They are fine people and raise beautiful dogs. I very highly recommend them.
Thank you again, Chad & Nancy, for helping my dreams come true.

My wife, my 2 daughters and I are so happy that we decided to get our Vizsla puppy from Chad and Nancy! They have been very supportive all along the way. Prior to picking up our puppy from them, Chad and Nancy educated us greatly on what to expect of this breed and how to care for him the best once he was home. On our day to pick up they gave us all the time we needed as we picked out our new little guy and also walked us through step by step in caring for our puppy. And since we have brought home Rocky they have continued their support as we have had him home answering any and all questions we may have. I don't think you could find 2 better people to work with when buying a puppy. They have truly made us feel like we are a part of their extended family.
