About Toccoa River Setters
Fine foot hunting setters for the family and field. We raise usually two litters a year or every other year out of our personal gun dogs. Our pups are very well socialized and usually require little training. Our pups have a strong pointing instinct, any many are natural retrievers and are backing naturally by 10-12 months old. All of our dogs have been on wild quail, grouse and woodcock. We are proud to Announce the addition of Shadow Oak Jake...... direct son of Shadow Oak Bo, the only English setter to win the national championship since the early  1970's. He is a bird finding marvel, and will sire many of our litters in the future.  Check out "toccoa river setters "on facebook.

We are extremely happy and grateful to have purchased a beautiful male from Jerry. Our Luca is extremely smart and absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend this breeder who besides being a great guide for us just good people and feels good to support in business.

My setter, Reba, is by far the brightest dog I’ve ever known! She is very bright, eager to please, and athletic. Reba has a great nose, and is unbelievably stylish. Jerry Barnes maintained frequent communication throughout the buying process and it’s easy to see how
much he loves his dogs. Toccoa River Kennels is the only kennel that I’ll buy my Setters from. Jerry is a good man and a great setter man!

I got one of the females from this litter, my pup is very smart she was pointing Pigeons & Quail at three months old. Katie continues to impress me wit how quick she learns what I ask her to do, one smart pup at six months old. Thank you Toccoa River Setters.

Testimonal on Sam English Setter. D.O.B 05-15-2014. Sam's sire is Rusty's Smoky Mtn. Andy. Sam's Dam Toccoa River Daisy Mae. My name is Eddie Borders from Homer, Ga. I have owned and operated Freeman Creek shooting preserve for many years until I had a stroke in 2006. My first bird dogs were in the late 1950's. Since then I have trained many for myself. I am not a professional dog trainer and this is not my first bird dog to train. Now let's get to the puppy. I am working with a pup named Sam. Sam is an English setter pup less than a year old. Sam is mostly training himself. All I am doing at this stage is guiding him. I have killed 40 plus birds over him. A.Sams strong points are: 1. He points and holds back from the bird a good distance. 2. He hunts in close. 3.He has a good hunting pattern. 4.Minds like a dog two or three times his age. 5.He switched over from planted birds very quick. 6. Very good temperament. B. Sam's weak points (Retrieving) 1. He is more of what we call a dead bird type dog now, but I can force break him when he gets older if needed. Sam will probably out live me. He is the best Pup I've seen in a long time. I would buy another pup out of these dog's if I were younger.
