We are a small hobby operation getting back into raising English Setters after a lengthy absence from field dogs. We have two brood females, Century Oak Jessie, and Dancing Smoke, acquired from Mr. Brian Sullivan, Dillon, SC. Both are daughters (half-sisters) of Grouse Feather Mark, 2-time National Prairie Chicken Open Shooting Dog Champion. Smoke is steady on point, with a straight-up tail set,and has a very good nose. She is very gentle and compliant. Jessie is young, and has not yet had much field work, but her instincts are very strong. Jessie also exhibits exceptionally high intelligence, and is eager to please.
Our sire, Century Oak Luke, is a son of Shake's Tag, 2011 runner-up Florida Open All-Age Champion. One local guide, with 40 years' experience, said of Tag, "He's the best dog I've ever seen at finding birds." Luke, like Tag, is large for a Setter, weighing 67 pounds at his last veterinary visit. Luke is a young dog, but he shows great promise, with a very strong nose, is loaded with drive, and locks up tight on point with his tail straight up..
Puppies produced by these breedings should prove more than satisfactory to the most discriminating buyer. Our dogs are personal shooting dogs, and they are excellent, loving family pets, too. We currently have 7 puppies by Smoke, whelped 9/15/12. There are 4 males and 3 females. Colors available are black&white, orange&white, and one tri-color male, and all of them carry their tails high and stylish.
Our asking price on these pups is $350, including shots and worming. These pups will be big enough to begin field training right after Christmas! They have all the right "stuff". The rest will be up to you, the handler!
