I have always valued his opinions. I was taught many years ago by an old trainer that the true test to determine a good trainer is wether he can fix another trainer’s or handler’s problems. My dog Buck, an English Pointer, was a wash out horseback field trial dog when he was one year old. That’s how I got him. I had trained many black labs in the years past before buying my first pointer. Up to the time that my problems began I had a wonderful time hunting and field trialing him. With that being said, over the course of about one year Buck developed an attitude that I tried to resolve by myself. In short he wanted to hunt for himself and would get disqualified in field trials instead of obeying me. After sometime I decided my training techniques weren’t working. That’s when I contacted Mark. He explained to me that with an 8 year old dog it was questionable wether I would get the results I wanted. Mark knows me and what I expect from my dogs. There’s an old saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I’m here to tell you that is definitely not true here! Mark’s patience and determination in working with and resolving the issues that I had with Buck really paid off. I have never had so much fun hunting and field trialing. In fact the very first weekend that I had Buck home I ran him in a trial and he got 1st place, a feat that we had never achieved in the two years prior. We had placed several times, qualified and ran in a national trial and finished in the top 16, but we had never achieved that all important 1st place. His wild bird hunting has also improved and it’s great to see him work the birds so well! Buck is a great family dog and my kids are crazy about him. Thanks to Mark I don’t have to retire him. I can continue to field trial and hunt with my great dog! Thanks Mark, I would recommend both Mark Pace Sr. and Jr. to anyone that wants help in training their hunting dog! They did wonders for Buck and me! Sincerely, Wayne Baker Arvada, CO. Submitted by: Lois Deitrich on Mar 24, 2010 I purchased a puppy from Mark Pace, Jr several years ago. Little did I know what a world class pup this was; you certainly wouldn't have known it from the price. A few years later, I took her to a trainer for some help and was shocked to hear what a quality dog she was and have him go on and on about her breeding.Recently, I contacted Mark Pace, Sr for a "finished" gun dog and was again overwhelmed at the quality for the price. Grace is the most perfectly trained hunting partner I could imagine and the "Marks" are professional and kind and offer 100% support to everyone they come in contact with. I trust them explicitly and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as trainers or to recommend a pup from their kennel to anyone. Their skill in working with the dogs is only exceeded by their goodness as human beings. Needless to say after all this rambling, they're the best!! Submitted by: Jim Slater on Aug 24, 2008 I have known Mark & Jr. for 5 years. In that time they have trained numerious dogs for me,[Vivslas/English pointer] I'm a professional guide at a upland bird hunting club in Co. I continually get rave reviews on how well my dogs behave and hunt.Mark and his son have a uncanny ability to "read" each dog, and determine a plan of training that is efective and quick. They are very caring and treat each dog as there own.I have also been active in refering many people to Mark for puppy purchase, { a gerat line of champions ], and for training. If you are looking for a pup or dog training, LOOK NO FURTHER!!, you have found one of the best !! Jim @ Rock Run Outfitters |
