Locknload Kennel is a family owned pointing dog kennel that features quality over quantity in German Shorthaired Pointers and English Setters. We strive to match dogs with superior bird finding ability to enhance the hunters experience in the field. To accomplish this we compete in foot trials, specifically National Shoot to Retrieve trials. The dogs are scored on each find, retrieve, one back plus ground coverage and ability. The basic concept is that the dog that wins is the dog that finds the most birds with the best style and intensity.

To achieve a NSTRA Championship, a dog must accumulate 18 points, of these 9 must be first place wins. A dog can accumulate multiple Championships.

We have bred, trained, and trialed multiple NSTRA Champions in our kennel. Our first was Locknload Dandy Mo, followed by Locknload Fancy Ticked Cash, Locknload Reba, Locknload Holding Card, Locknload Fancy Diesel Mo and Locknload MC Badlands Dutch.

At this time we are competing with three dogs starting with Locknload Fancy Ticked Cash. She is a 6X Champion. She also is the 2005 -06 Rocky Mountain Region High Point Champion and the 2003 Rocky Mtn Region First Runner-up. Locknload Holding Card ( Diamond), our english setter, has finished his second NSTRA Championship and won the 2006 NSTRA Rocky Mountain Derby Dog of the Year Award. Locknload MC Badlands Dutch is our newest Champion. .

Our trial dogs are also our hunting dogs. We hunt wild pheasant, quail, sharptail grouse, and huns in several states. Keep in mind that we are featuring top hunting dogs, just not top notch trial dogs.

Well I have an update of a earlier listing. I now have the second dog back from Mike. Same results as first dog, retrieves everything I shoot or throw right back to hand. I could not be happier. He is very good at what he does and loves to do it. I have already made resevations for a new dog next summer. A+ in my book.

After a couple months of research I was directed to Mike about force retrieving a Brittany. I made the trip down to visit his kennels and have him look at Max. After I told him the story behind Max and a experience he had with another trainer. He took him out in the field with a planted Quail and watched him work. After we talked he just said Max would be no problem. I took Max down to Mike a couple days later. He would always keep me informed of his progress and encourage me to visit and help out with the work.
I now have Max back. He has been great about calling and giving me help when needed so that he continues to progress. Mike now has a second dog of mine. Both of my dogs have opposite personalities. Mike just seems to know what each dog needs and how to work with them.
I am going to start NSTRA this year without the help from Mike I could not even imagine being as far along as I am with both Max or getting ready to compete.

I have a 21 month old female GSP sired by Dutch out of Cash who is everything I could have hoped for as a hunter, companion and family member.
I sent her back to Mike for formal training when she was a year old. Mike gave me back a dog who is solid on point, backs, and is an enthusiatic retreiver.
Kelly gets to hunt from Sept 1st through mid February on a variety of different birds, from Canada to Arizona, and has quickly learned how to handle each specie.

We met Mike and Emma about a year ago as we were doing some research on breeders, we weren’t in a position

Having lost my old dog to a neurovirus, I was looking for a partner for my 7 yr old GSP. After countless hours searching, I gave Mike a call as I had two friends with Mike's pups that were very impressive at an early age. The pup I chose was a double bred Fancy White Trash female. Well let me start off by saying if you have yet to meet Mike, his family, and his dogs, you are missing out. Mike has single handedly shown me the ropes to training a gun dog. I have always hunted with dogs, and have been around hunting dog trainers, but never with my own dogs, and when I aquired a dog to be trained I was clueless on where to start. I recently purchased my first bird dog from Mike, and this dog is amazing!!!. I talked to Mike on the phone a couple of times and he told me what Regent could do, it was all true. I met Mike about a year ago at a NSTRA trial in Kansas, It was easy to see why everyone spoke so highly of him, he is honest hardworking and true to his word, shortly after this meeting Mike contacted me about a dog that he had bred and trained that a gentelman was selling, this was the first trained dog I have ever bought. I have used LockNLoad Kennel off & on for the past three years. Mike has been excellent with both of my German Shorthairs as well as me who really needed the training. Mike has force broke my 4 year old to retrieve and this was done very professionally and TJ is doing fantastic.
