About Winter Creek ShorthairsWinter Creek Shorthairs since 1986 Looking for a GOOD DOG you'll be proud to own, hunt or hang out with? "German Shorthaired Pointers Bred to the Old Time Versatile Standard." "Quality Never Costs, It Just Pays Off!" We breed beautiful, healthy dogs with excellent tempraments. They are raised in our home, not in a kennel environment! They are socialized from day 1. We start imprinting them with quail at 4 weeks and move up to ckukar at 9 weeks. Our puppies are kept intill they are 9 to 10 weeks old. This way they are better socialized with people and littermates. It also gives us extra time to evaluate our litters and place them with the right families. Like children, no two are completely alike in skills and "the bird light" comes on at different times. The extra two weeks are invaluable in this evaluation! We have many dogs that go to companion homes that are used for Obedience, Agility, Rally, Jogging or just snuggling! The most important thing is an excellent home for our pups. And we are fussy about who gets them! We do not breed dogs for income! We breed because we are passionate about this breed and want to maintain the inherent qualities they should have. We only breed every 18 months or so and then from a waiting list. If we don't have anything when you're looking and/or ready, we will help you find a dog that we would be comfortable owning ourselves.
