Lily, now approaching two years old, is an absolute delight in every way. Based on our family situation (young kids) and expectation to hunt regularly David helped us choose her - a sweet and biddable pup with clear hunting potential. David helped me to train her through steady to flush and he pronounced her ready to hunt for her first season. Since then we haven’t done any formal training but have just incorporated her into pretty much everything we do and she just learns as she goes...trail running, hiking, backpacking, road tripping, and plenty of hunting (sooty grouse, mountain quail, valley quail, chukar, and ducks). She is game for anything and is one of the most biddable dogs I’ve ever been around. She is a joy - I’d recommend that anyone who wants a great dog and thinks a vizsla might be for them to reach out to David.

I must first tell you, we are not a hunting family. But we are dog owners all my life and have had champion huskies as pets. Our last dog was a chocolate lab whom we still miss. But My beautiful 3.5 year old Vizsla “rusty” is the smartest dog I have ever come across. You teach him anything, heck he will teach you.

He one day last month was upset cause of the rain and not being able to get outside and run around started playing catch with himself. He picked up his favorite chew toy with his mouth and flung it down the stairs, ran downstairs picked it up with his mouth and ran back up stairs. He proceeded to do this for about 20 min. I was working in the office next to the stairs, it took me a minute or two to figure out what he was doing, and I couldn’t believe what I saw.
He hunts for himself, he has caught countless mice rats and those dreaded lizards. If he has ever caught something in that area before, that is the first spot he checks, everyday, everytime. He naturally knows not to pounce on snakes. If u tell him not to do something once (I not saying he won’t do it again), he will know that he shouldnt do it.

All I can say is it’s the smartest dog I’ve ever seen. All I can say is I will only buy a Vizsla and I will only buy from David

Best Dog I ever had.
This is something to say because I've had a number of truly amazing dogs, but the bond you will create with a Vizsla is something different and something truly special.

In his first year he didn't get to do any bird hunting (sorry) Dave.
Interestingly though, he did get to do a significant amount of pig hunting. Yeah... who'd a thunk? We came on a group of pigs in a barley field. The adults ran off and left the piglets. They were 30 pounders. We could hear them in the field but we couldn't see them. I let Argos out and he wasted no time getting on them. The first one he ran out of the country... running behind the pig, along side the pig and sometimes the pig chasing him. That was lesson one. The next pig he cut off and stared down. When we approached he turned him right into us. I could not shoot because the pig was so close. I kicked him. I picked him up by the hind legs and broke his back on the ground. He did this three times.

The point here is that these dogs learn fast and understands team work. Dave's dogs need virtually no training... just take them out... A LOT!!!! They just instinctively know what to do.

David, my name is Preston and I purchased a puppy from you about a year and a half ago. I took him out for pheasant Saturday, his first real hunt. I have never seen anything like that. Teddy had the highest drive to please. His intelligence, stamina, endurance and focus is insane. On this first hunt he out preformed any dog I have been with. I just wanted to thank you and let you know how happy we are.

Thank you
Preston

We bought our Viszla from David only two months ago. We could not be happier with our boy. He is beautiful, affectionate, smart, and highly trainable. I have called David a number of times with various questions and he is always there for me. He really cares about his dogs, and I feel grateful for his dedication to my dog, Jax. I highly recommend buying a dog from David.

Dave Awbrey is at the top of the heap. We got our favorite red dog, Trixie from him in November of 2008. Hard to believe it's been almost 3 years. Not only was he fantastic enough to drive to YUMA, Az from California to meet us, but now that we want to breed her, he has been so helpful with information. This is a great man to get your dog from. They point like crazy, even as pups! Go
Dave Go.

Outstanding bloodline. I researched Vizsla's for three years before I bought one from Dave when my twins were old enough for a pet - we bought the pup in July 2010. Outstanding family pet - almost too outstanding as the wife pays more attention to the dog than me. Great hunting & pointing qualities as well - this dog is a bird dog & it is in the bloodline for sure. Dave knows his bloodlines, does his homework & produces great hunting & family dogs.

I have never enjoyed a dog as much as I have my "boy" that we got from Mr. Awbrey. He is truly the smartest dog I've ever had. It's easy to see why his sire won the awards he has for hunting. Riley is 8 now and I thought I'd look at the website and see if you were still breeding such beautiful Vizslas. I have seen other Viszlas but love my dogs big boxy head and the look in his eyes. Strong, smart and completely enjoyable. I will have another one, hopefully every bit as great and it definitely will be from this breeder. Thanks for such a wonderful addition to our family!

We bought a male Vizsla from David in 1999. Our dog was a natural hunter and pointer but above all he was a wonderful family dog. He had a wonderful temperment and everyone complimented on his strong chisled body. We lost our dog last winter and I would buy another Vizsla from David in a heartbeat. He breeds a quality Vizsla.
