We could not be happier with our beautiful Small Munsterlander, Riava’s Miss Dakota (Soda). Janet Hartigh has been absolutely wonderful to work with from day one. She cares about her dogs as if they’re her own children. This compassion is what inspired us to purchase a dog from her. Soda, who is now one year old is smart, a great hunter, and sweetie pie. She truly lives up to her name. Soda also earned a max score Prize 1 in her NAVHDA natural ability test in August of 2019. She’s showing great promise for advanced testing. We know Janet gave Soda a great start and are grateful for her guidance and continued friendship.

I have a male from the C litter. Trapper is amazingly smart, affectionate, and he has great hunting drive and natural ability. Janet and Garth are dedicated to producing the best of the breed. They are helpful and knowledgeable and care about each puppy as if it were going to be their own.

We brought home a female from Riava's last litter this spring. I've owned a Springer, a Brittany, and another SM. this new one is the best dog I've had. Strong prey drive and natural ability in the field. Retrieved ducks from water her first season with only bumper training before. Athletic with great endurance, already Skijoring 10 km + no problem. Sweet and eager to please around the house. She's a striking dog who strangers stop to ask about.

I couldn't be happier with Riava. They were informative throughout and hosted us in their home. I felt treated like family.

I couldn't be happier with my 2 beautiful Small Munsterlanders from Riava. Janet is committed to producing the best possible breed characteristics. She is knowlegeable and dedicated to her dogs and all of the pups - never compromising on things that allow her pups to have and become the best they can be. New to the hunting world, Janet introduced me to NAVHDA and both my pups easily achieved their NA. I can confidently recommend Riava Small Munsterlander to anyone!

We have a small Munsterlander, Baxter from B Litter. He is becoming a great hunting dog and we are very pleased with him. Janet and Garth at Riava kennels are wonderful people and have been very helpful with any questions we have had. He is our 4th. small Munsterlander since 1986 and we love the breed. Riava kennels does produce top quality dogs.

We got a pup from the A litter and have been very pleased with our Ava. She is an excellent hunter and we have enjoyed many hours hunting with her. She is a joy to be around.
We really like Janet and Garth they are great breeders and are always willing to help you in any way they can. Janet spends countless hours socializing and handling her pups which live in the house.
We wouldn't hesitate to get another pup from Riava. A very satisfied customer and friend .

These are super, honest and very genuine people to deal with. Their aim is to produce quality dogs with lots of natural ability. I was lucky to obtain one of the B litter pups. She is very responsive to training, and passed the NA test just before 6 weeks of age, and with very little exposure to live birds before the test. In limited hunting this fall sha has worked hard at finding birds, points well, and is starting to retrieve well. I am delighted with my pup!
Riava's pups are well started in house training, socializing, and exposed to loud noises before leaving to new owners, and their early health needs and microchipping are fully looked after. I would recommend Riava's to any prospective purchaser.RNTNU

Acquired a pup from the B litter born March 03, 2017. While having had previous ownership of labs had no experience with training a versatile hunting dog. Janet was a big help and wonderful resource in the development Of Bella (& of me) who at less than 6 months age achieved her NAVHDA NA award prize 2 with a score of 108. Bella & I together experienced her first pheasant hunting season this fall. She was a great companion and a highly motivated hunter. Bella is a wonderful member of our family. Thanks Janet & Riava Kennels
